Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing to apply for the vacancy of Junior Copy Writer as seen advertised on Creative Pool.
As you will note from my enclosed CV, I have recently graduated from the University Of Edge Hill with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) English language and am now keen to begin a career within copy writing, using and building upon my skillset. During my time at Edge Hill University, I have developed exceptional written communication skills and a desirable flexibility to my writing, allowing me to adapt my tone and style to communicate through a variety of mediums. I have also developed a knowledgeable insight into grammar giving me an even greater attention to detail as well as an understanding of ways in which language can be used creatively to serve different purposes. My University degree not only demonstrates my high level knowledge but also an ability to work effectively, meeting multiple deadlines through excellent organisation skills and an attention to detail.
When deciding on my chosen career path, I took the time in my summer breaks from University to undergo voluntary experience at B2B Marketing Agency Stein IAS, in Macclesfield. Here, I was responsible for producing engaging copy for blogs and press releases for a variety of different clients such as TalkTalk and Trelleborg Marine Systems, adapting my writing specifically for each client. I was also responsible for management of social media, composing updates to promote products and drive general activity towards the site as well as proof reading copy, altering copy for suitable word count and ensuring the overall written work was of a high standard. I excelled in my experience at this company, and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of meeting deadlines as well as producing and editing copy to ensure it was suitable to specification.
In my current role of Customer Service Advisor at Metro Rod Drainage Company, I have also volunteered to help with the production of the quarterly newsletter, involving researching relevant copy and producing engaging copy which will then be distributed to our Franchises all over the country. My research skills are something I wish to progressively develop and so I volunteered to help with the newsletter in order to build upon these, using my writing skills in the process.
As an individual I am dedicated, confident and organised and enjoy the reward from challenging situations which allow you to develop and broaden knowledge. I enjoy working both independently and as part of a team, offering new ideas becoming a valued team member. I have an excellent ability to remain resilient in challenging situations always completing work to the highest standard under any level of pressure, consistently showing a great willingness to learn. Alongside my excellent communication skills both written and verbal, my attention to detail and my creative mind, these qualities are what I believe make me the perfect candidate for this role.
