Dear Sir/Madam,
I have applied for this role after recently graduating from university with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design and Technology (classification 2:1) and so I am now looking to start my career in fashion copywriting.
Throughout my time at university I have built a portfolio of digital design work integrated with examples of writing for both the fashion and lifestyle genres, and was proud this year to be shortlisted as a finalist in the Harrods 'Star of Tomorrow' writing competition run by the British Fashion Council, where my entry was an 1000 word piece on beauty innovation. During my final year at university I specialised in Fashion Communication and developed a lifestyle brand and magazine app delivering daily articles on a variety of different topics. I wrote eight short articles for this project under a specific tone of voice relevant to my brand. I have also been involved in the launch, marketing and promotion of a start-up vintage furniture, jewellery and accessories business and have designed an e-commerce site with written item descriptions and social media posts for the brand.
I believe the role of junior copywriter would be perfect for me as I have a background of education (as well as a keen interest) in fashion and a passion and talent for writing. I would be very grateful for the opportunity to work in a creative, fun and innovative environment where I can utilise my writing skills and feel a children's fashion establishment would be a fantastic place to start my career. I am passionate about interacting with children and enjoy the experiences I have had in doing so very much, so would very much enjoy working for a childrenswear brand.
I have been involved in many projects both at university and in the work place that have been fast-paced, diverse and under time pressure so am happy working in this type of environment. I am a hard-working, diligent and meticulously organised individual with advanced communication skills and am confident in both my written and digital design abilities.
