About me

I am looking to move on from my current role as content editor, a position which has provided me with an in-depth knowledge and experience of daily editorial deadlines, using content management systems and writing original copy. With my employer being a large blue-chip consumer products company, I am now interested in moving into a more creative and varied role, which will also build on my previous experience from working with magazines as both a writer and editorial assistant. My current position, with Johnson and Johnson, involves the regular updating and maintaining of its intranet sites, which includes sourcing news and writing articles, interviewing colleagues and managers, and using Documentum Web Publisher and Macromedia Fireworks. The role has certainly broadened my technical abilities, since I had no official training with the programmes and am now proficient and confident using them. It has also provided me with experience of working within a busy editorial team, and also in a large, global and exceptionally professional organisation. Prior to this role I have worked as an editorial assistant at a magazine, in a role which covered various subbing duties, such as proofing and formatting pieces, commissioning interviews and articles, as well as writing articles and features themselves on a variety of topics. It was a very different working environment to where I currently am, however I am very interested in, and enjoy, magazine journalism.
