About me
To Whom it May Concern/Amuse,
I graduated from the University of Kent with a BA Hons in English Language & Linguistics (2:1) June 2013 and have spent over three years as a weekly contributor to various online publications on a voluntary basis, the most prominent of which is called The Upcoming. I've conducted interviews in all sectors, predominantly fashion, providing pieces to order and working within regular and tight deadlines. I've covered London and New York Fashion Weeks as well as many other events. For convenience, here is a link to my work with The Upcoming:
My current role at LivingSocial involves keeping to daily deadlines and a strict style guide, as well as organising and assigning tasks, proofreading, writing, and editing online content. We've just started work on a new SEO project for the site. I'm also enrolled on a part-time Saturday course for an NCTJ diploma in multimedia journalism with News Associates press agency, looking to complete my exams in November 2015.
Though my experience is predominantly in fashion content writing, I have worked extensively in marketing, sales and on various film/television sets. I am proficient in Microsoft Word, PhotoShop and Excel, as well as online publishing platforms such Moonfruit, Joomla! and WordPress. I spent last Summer working as an intern for an SEO company producing content, gathering data and working with clients using Google Analytics as well as Keyword Research tools, in addition to managing or working on the majority of social media platforms.
During my time at Kent I put a lot of time into the university newspaper and the Drama Society, the latter of which I was also a member of the committee. I helped organise events and show budgets, write newsletters and press releases, with proofing and editing scripts, as well as performing and working behind the scenes.
After university I spent three months in India teaching, gathering data and writing over 15,000 words in reports for ICS, in addition to going on tough but rewarding expeditions into rural India. I also spent two months travelling around America with a friend, writing a blog along the way.
I'm a hard-working, well-spoken individual, both of which are attributes I've found to compliment my vibrant lifestyle in East London. I'll relentlessly put in the effort required to succeed in the media and publishing industries distributing and creating content in order to make the important and interesting information accessible to all. Anything I haven't already had experience in I will get to grips with as quickly as is required of me.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this, please do not hesitate to consider me for different positions if you deem me more suitable to them, but please do respond even if you cannot offer me anything. I'd be delighted to hear back from you.
Kindest Regards,
Elizabeth Finney
