About me
I am a knitwear designer. I begin the creative process with personal reflective thought on a theme, followed by extensive explorative research into how this theme is connected to me and the expressive possibilities for it through art, nature, history, colour, culture and society. My pieces are original and develop organically to reflect emotion, humour, and a sense of place. I use the imagery that evolves to guide the development of patterns and colour, making marks with dark pastels and paint to depict my vision. On completion of this stage, I further develop silhouette and pattern for sampling. I then make my own knit punch cards in order to create my own fabric.
Through experimentation with varieties of yarn and textiles of yarn I am able to employ layering using several yarns at the same time. Each element is unique and represents the conceptual imagery of my inspiration. I incorporate and integrate other materials like satin, silk and lace to embellish my final interpretation of the theme. The completed piece blends the different elements of my vision and design harmoniously together. Ultimately, the fabric design I create is intentionally so playful and attractive one is just drawn to touch it.
I am an enthusiastic and confident young creative, mastering my craft by continuously exploring and improving with every opportunity. Travelling and living previously in several countries has widened my fashion portfolio and international outlook. With hands-on experience of product creation in garments and accessories, I am ready to pursue my ambition to receive graduate employment in an international brand.
