About me
I am looking further to build my career within Fashion, I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a BA first class honours degree in Fashion Design. I have gained a broad range of skills through the variety of jobs held. All the roles I have worked in have required exceptional organisational skills, especially as a supervisor at New Look. During my time at New Look as well as undertaking general managerial tasks, I was regularly in charge of the visual merchandising of the store which included the styling of window displays and mannequins within the store.
During my placement year at university I worked for Claire Christian Couture, a small luxury design brand. Whilst working for this small company I gained extensive experience in many aspects of fashion. Initially, I was involved in the design process, beginning with trend research creating mood boards and colour palettes. Following this I became involved in the sourcing of fabrics and trims and liaising with external suppliers on a regularly basis. Finally I assisted with the production of the garments, pattern cutting and manufacture, which was all completed in house. In addition to ready to wear, Claire Christian Couture offered a bespoke service which gave me the opportunity to experience pattern grading. The involvement I had with the manufacture of the ready to wear and bespoke collections has given me excellent garment knowledge. In addition, I gained experience with buying and liaising with stockists and suppliers when the business expanded and we began stocking other brands.
I consider myself to be a strong team player and believe working together with colleagues as a team is vital for a successful business. I currently live in the Isle of Man where my opportunities are limited consequently, I am moving to Manchester on the 24th June in the hope I may pursue a career in Fashion Design. After seeing this role advertised I believe this would be the perfect opportunity to further my career within in the creative industry.
