About me
Hi there - I am currently based in Kingston upon Thames on maternity leave and am looking for freelance work from home.
Until recently I was the studio manager of barbed design (see Creative Review May 2005, or check out *), working for clients including the Ethical Trade Initiative, Shelter, RESET, The Home Office, Bedford Row and many more.
My background up to this point:
2 years as a book designer at Ben Cracknell Studios for Thames & Hudson, Macmillan, Continuum, Channel 4 and BBC Books, Headline etc - specialising in typesetting illustrated non-fiction and cover design.
1 year on Architecture Today * (plus sister titles AT Detail and EcoTech) as layout and publishing co-ordinator.
1 year as design and production editor at CancerBACUP - national medical info charity, designing a rolling programme of 60 booklets, 124 factsheets and various other publications including CancerBACUP News.
1 year as a designer at Shelter (housing charity) working with Johnson Banks on the re-brand and reponsible for campaign materials, guides, booklets and publications such as periodical 'housing matters' and magazine 'ROOF'. Created the 'Room for improvement' magazine for the Ideal Home Show.
Last year - at barbed and sole designer for the Howard League for Penal Reform, including hlm magazine.
Have Creative Suite, + Quark, digital camera, PowerBook G4 and broadband! Qualified proofreader.
