About me
In applying for the position of Video Producer (Editorial) for the Telegraph Media Group I can offer over 17 years of industry experience and expertise. In my current job I have established one of the most successful video units within the United Nations Public Information system. We produce a wealth of rich video media mostly news and features with some public service announcements which include short dramas. We meet tight news deadlines and have fast turnarounds as a result of the work flow and team building spirit which I have developed. Our clients are international news organizations such as AP, Reuters and BBC, which are feed by the UN Department of Public Information in New York. We also supply national television stations in Liberia and the informal video centers around the country.
Overall, my career has progressed steadily with increasing responsibilities, and I have achieved the capacity to balance the demands of my current role as a manager and administrator of a video unit with continuing parallel responsibilities as a hands-on video producer.
With regards to production, I develop story ideas with a team of five staff and execute the production process myself or direct and supervise my staff so to do.
I am able to demonstrate a high level of skill and expertise in the application of digital video editing software such as Final Cut Pro. While an assistant professor of film and video at the American University, I tutored others in the use of some of these technologies and I have acquired certificates in the application of Final Cut Pro.
I have daily experience with and have also acquired expertise in the application of enterprise level encoding software and multi-format audio and video codecs which we apply in to our products order to post video to Youtube and to the corporate website.
My work entails preparation and design of year long communication work plans and strategies and budgets. I have adopted some innovative communications strategies over the past three years.
Under my leadership, the Video Unit has made very effective use of social networking media by setting up and regularly posting to a dedicated channel at the following YouTube which has attracted 35,000 views in less than one year.
I have also demonstrated effective administrative and managerial skills in running the video unit and been able to achieve the completion of a video archiving project that had been put on hold for many years prior to my tenure.
