About me

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to apply for the position as a copywriter. I feel that I will be successful in this role as I am an articulate, presentable, intelligent, and all-rounded person. I have a good deal of work experience in various sectors (architecture, legal, branding, marketing) and have also worked as both a bartender and a customer services assistant - both of which I feel have allowed my character to flourish and my personable nature to expound itself.

I am have recently finished a bachelors degree in History & Politics at Warwick University and am awaiting a predicted 2.1. I am looking to start work from then on. I am eager to jump into a position right away to attain both valuable experience and become a part of a thriving agency composed of genuine, interesting, and knowledgeable people.

At University I was the Publicity and Communications officer and co-founder of the newly established advertising society called AdHoc. My duties entailed creating and enacting internal ad campaigns to encourage membership and attendance, contacting University and Students Union representatives to publicise the society, brainstorming campaign ideas, organising attendees into workshop sessions weekly, pitching and presenting to other societies' exec teams to gain campaigns, and using photoshop cs2 to design posters/flyers.

The campaign I most recently worked on with a small team of members and was both the creative and account manager of was for a charity event hosted by the Warwick Events society. After liasing with the president and vice president of their society, I, along with my team, devised a plan to market the event as an Alice in Wonderland themed club night with the central slogan of, 'Follow the White Rabbit'. The posters show different original sketches of a few of the characters from the story with elusive and abstract quotes. I photoshopped the sketches to display the characters using a rose to either fend off a wave of petals, or to breathe them out. The campaign also involved placing cutouts of white rabbits all around campus to attract attention to the theme. The image of the whole campaign is one that allures and holds people's attention, making them think. The image that it represented was one somewhere in between the dark comedy of Tim Burton's remake and the Disney cheesy version.

I have also worked on campaigns for Warwick Economics Summit, for One World Week, for the student newspaper, for Warwick Bellydancing society, and for our own internal campaign. For One World Week and Warwick Bellydancing, I pitched and presented to the societies' exec teams and successfully gained the clients and sold them our ideas. For the student newspaper I was part of a team of me and the President of the advertising society in pitching and presenting successfully.

I possess good managerial skills as can be seen by my leadership role in the advertising society, in addition to my own creation of a project called Warwick Unbound. Warwick Unbound is a digital-based compendium of literary work and other forms of creativity - photography, cartoons... I designed the website from scratch, ran an extensive publicity campaign for it attracting a good amount of viewers and a fair deal of submissions, and have created a campaign to advertise it around campus to both encourage students to express themselves creatively, and offer them a platform for publishing their work.

I am a good communicator, and am highly literate and numerically astute. I love talking to people and making new friends and constantly seek to develop on both a professional and personal level. One of my favourite past-times aside from making new friends and traveling, is writing. I am an avid poet, as well as composing and writing songs, and publishing short stories on my blog. I feel that working with you will give me the opportunity to do so under the exquisite and unparalleled guidance of industry professionals such as yourselves.

All the best,

Edward Moseley.
