About me
Doug is a Brazilian creative from his home town São Paulo, Left Brazil in 2009 to move to Germany
where he worked for TBWA and then moved to Paris to work for several agencies.
Lately working as a creative director in the McCann group in Paris, Doug believes in people and the
power of doing good. He is an art director and part time copywriter, creative above all, always trying
to bring creativity to the next level along with his team. Instead of talking about Doug's career and
bla bla bla, let's talk about' Doug's life.
A lot of things can happen in one minute. Well, in his case it took a little longer.
Doug and his wife took 4 long years trying to have a kid,
going through any single process you can ever imagine,
from adoption to IVF (in vitro fertilisation), invasive and non invasive.
4 years! You can imagine how exhausting and frustrating this is.
Well, they made it. Not only one, but two in the first pregnancy. Twins.
His dream had come true until one of the waters break at 24 weeks
(5 months-ish), and they had to force them out at 26 weeks.
His little daughter passed away 7 hours after birth. In his arms.
To give you a figure, until his kids were born, Doug had never taken a baby
in my arms before. "Ever".
He was afraid, so he decided to take her for the first and last time to go back to wherever souls go
when they have to go.
No time to moan, because they still had another baby to fight for.
Their baby boy passed away several times in the incubator,
but for someone like him, that does not believe in miracles,
seeing him coming back to life over and over, makes him want to believe in it.
Doug and his wife lived in a hospital room, times sleeping in armchairs,
leaving to work in the morning and rushing back to the hospital
as fast as they could in the evening, nonstop.
His baby finally came out of the incubator after 3 long months when he could breathe on his own
and Doug could hold him for the first time.
This is nuts when you think about it, and he was indeed going nuts, so Doug had to do something
to take that burden out of his shoulders.
He decided to learn after effects and made his first short film
from the illustrations until the parallax animation.
The photo shooter by Douglas Rocha. You can find it on the net.
He was parenting, working, doing his animation and had no time at all,
but something was missing, so he decided to write a novel.
"Matin d'Hiver" by Douglas Rocha available at Amazon.
It took him 3 years to finish both, book and animation and they were surprised with another girl.
Everything else happened in between and now you have the figure on how dedicated and humanist
Doug is. If this is not commitment I don't know what this is.
He believes in people and he has been doing good. Hopefully some people will notice it.
