About me
Dorothea Tachler, a Munich-born musician of Korean and German-Croatian heritage, graduated in classical music from the prestigious University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Her global musical journey began by touring the world with German, Japanese, and American bands, showcasing her versatile skills as a singer or on instruments like violin, keys, bass, and guitar across various genres.
Touring led her to New York, where she composed film music and started her own bands including My Favourite Things and Hunki Dori. She also played in various other bands, collaborating with talents from the New York music scene and composing for corporate giants like Burt's Bees to emerging filmmakers, embracing any assignment with a variety of instruments and genres.
As a one-woman-operation, Dorothea evolved into a proficient songwriter, sound engineer, producer, and arranger. Notably, she composed music for seven feature films.
My Favourite Things, initially Dorothea's solo project in Brooklyn, blossomed into a dynamic band with a discography comprising three albums, four singles, and numerous music videos. Hunki Dori released 2 albums, the latest ("Reverie") digitally and on cassette tape by experimental music label Ingrown Records (USA).
For her endeavors to create new music for My Favourite Things and Hunki Dori, she received 2 grants in Germany from GVL (2021) and Musikfonds (2022).
