About me

Declan Smith is an East Midlands based filmmaker. After studying Stage and Screen at Sheffield Hallam University and being an actor for some years, he eventually pursued filmmaking. He directed, wrote and produced his first short film Ghosted (2022) it has since been accepted in over 25 festivals worldwide, picking up awards for Best Soundtrack and Best LGBT romance. Along with screening at two BAFTA qualifying festivals, Oska Bright and BFI Flare 2024.

Declan's second short film Fade in: to Murder was a 12 minute Columbo esque crime short, which won Best Actress at Midlands Movies 2024, Best Debut Actress at Luleå International Film Festival, Best Short Film at Milton Keynes International Film Festival and Best Producer at WeMakeFilms International Film Festival.

Most recently, Declan submitted his feature film script of Fade In To Murder and won the 'Bell House Residency Award' at Decentralized Pictures, founded by George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola.

Naomi is Declan's latest short film and first micro short, recently got selected for BIFA qualifying Sunrise Film Festival, Wolverhampton Film Festival and Mansfield Film Festival.
