About me

My work is concerned with the use of mixed media.I am fascinated in how different materials react to each other and enjoy experimenting with new techniques and processes, bringing them into my art practice.I choose to work with images that I collect from magazines mostly the images are from the celebrity culture as I find myself intrigued with this celebrity lifestyle that constantly surrounds us,and how involved we become with this. I am also intrigued with the way in which we look up to our celebrity icons and our desire to become involved in their world. I collect these images and enjoy experimenting with the different processes in which you can start to dismantle these images taking away the glitz and glam of the celebrity.I enjoy the different techniques that I can use to do this and especially enjoy transferring the images on to different materials which creates new forms to the original image. I find that the materials that I use in my practice are very flexible and work well together which works well with my style of work. I have developed my techniques throughout my practice which has created new interesting forms, colour, shapes, texture and space to the images.I also use acrylic medium to transfer these images onto different materials as I find this medium reacts well with the materials that I use.I enjoy using digital print as I find that I am able to manipulate the images further.My influences for my work are mainly from images that surround us,mostly magazines.
