About me
I have over 38 years' continuous employment in the printing
industry, which began with a five year apprenticeship on a small local
paper in Exmouth. This apprenticeship gave me the opportunity to learn
and become familiar with setting techniques and proof-reading marks.
During my career I have gained a wealth of knowledge and skills,
particularly in the typesetting and pre-press environments which have
included newspapers (national and local), repro houses, general print,
book typesetters, directory publishers and most recently in the
multimedia packaging industry. The changing technologies have demand an
investment in professional development and I have been fortunate to
benefit from on the job training in the latest techniques and software
programmes. I believe I have a talent for troubleshooting, particularly
in relation to digital files, whether open files or pdf. I have an eye
for detail, and methodical in my approach to work. Good technical
ability and IT skills, database and server maintenance. I work calm
under pressure and like to think I possess a good sense of humour. I
have worked both locally and abroad and accustomed to working shift
hours.
