About me
Dear Sir / Madam
I am writing to apply for the position of Packaging Design Co-ordinator.
In my previous experience I have designed packaging for Asda food products and have also have experience meeting and presenting to their design managers on various product lines so although I am a designer I do have a good insight into the role.
As I have a lot of experience as a designer in agency and in-house positions I feel I have a great deal to offer the role and relish the opportunity to build upon my managerial experience (I currently brief 3 designers on various projects as well as being a full time designer myself).
My current position is senior designer in a media company and as you can see from my CV after graduating I have gained over 15 years of experience having worked on many types of projects for a wide variety of companies including: Reebok, Rockport, Asda Walmart and HBOS. My online portfolio is: *
I have in total about five years packaging design experience mostly at award-winning branding agency 'State of the Art' where I designed packaging for Asda food products, multi-vitamins, confectionery, health and beauty products. I directed a lot of the product photography and regularly sourced photographers and stylists. I am currently designing packaging for a local company that makes hand-made chocolate.
During my time at Pace Microcommunications where I was their graphic designer responsible for all of the packaging design, product literature and creating and producing national advertising campaigns, I also directed the product photography.
I am happy to work to company guidelines ensuring a consistent 'look' to the brand and have done so in the past during my time at an award-winning branding agency called State of the Art where we created and followed brand guidelines for the Halifax Bank and also for Asda Walmart products. As well as being able to follow guidelines I am primarily a creative person so I am always pro-active in thinking of new ways to progress and develop the brand to 'move with the times' and remain successful.
I work accurately and efficiently and am happy to take responsibility whenever needed. I am adaptable, flexible and enjoy working as part of a team but also welcome individual personal responsibility in my work, I am excellent at client communication and enjoy the 'problem solving' challenge of design. I work well under pressure and have always worked on numerous projects at any given time.
I have always worked from concept through to design then onto final artwork ready for print. I know design software programmes very well. I have a great knowledge of printing, production and reprographics enabling me to set up artwork so it prints correctly. I understand many different file formats and can also troubleshoot print problems very well.
This sounds like a great position and I would be very pleased to be considered for it.
Thanking you in advance, David Felton.
