About me

As an avid writer with a way with words, I've been looking for a position that allows me to both use my skills to their fullest and keep me in tune with the media market and popular culture. Having recently left a staff writer position, I feel that I'm ready to concentrate my creative efforts in an internationally-respected establishment and a fast-moving environment. With international professional experience, an educational background in politics and international relations, fluency in Arabic and a good level of conversational Spanish, my global outlook makes sure I can adapt and contribute to any situation.
My most recent position at Enigma magazine in Cairo has been a great opportunity to immerse myself in the world of lifestyle writing and working in a small team has allowed me to cover all the bases. From interviews and feature articles, to lifestyle sections, reviews and op-eds, I've been lucky to be in a position to take my passion for popular culture and current affairs, mix it with my flair for catchy copy and produce a monthly portfolio of work that I'm incredibly proud of.

Apart from the obvious creative benefits of my last job, Enigma gave me the chance to get up to speed with the advertising world. Liaising daily with the marketing and advertising departments, I've often been in direct contact with clients, creating and perfecting copy for their 'advertorials' that help them to highlight their product launches, latest collections, events and special promotions in a way that's eye-catching and exciting.
I've also been heavily involved in the online side of the magazine - a great achievement for the whole team that's seen a huge growth in hit rates since it's relaunch last year. Whether I'm preparing materials to be uploaded every month to coincide with each issue, blogging and writing web-exclusive articles or promoting the magazine and its features through social media, I've been able to see, first-hand, the feedback to my work and what gets attention in the online world. With the technical skills to maintain an online presence, as well as the creativity to keep readers and followers captivated, I've worked hard on my own and within the editorial team to keep Enigma's portal amongst the most visited in Egypt.

I've attached a detailed C.V for your reference. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you need any other information or supporting materials. I'm a British national, currently between London and Cairo, so I'd be happy to speak via email, telephone or Skype.
