Statement of Suitability

I am writing to apply for the position of Design Assistant to Creative Director

I recently completed a BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and gained a 2:2 from University of Westminster, London, in June 2012 and I am keen to seek a challenging opportunity to apply my capabilities.

My qualifications offer me a solid grounding for this position while providing me with the skills to contribute and plan innovative ideas from initial design briefs through to concepts; artwork; visualisation and creative development.

Interior Architecture course taught us about pattern, colours, montage and collage and building design. I really enjoy creating my own patterns and designs, as well as the whole process, from choosing the colours right up to finishing the project. Research is one of my strengths. Prior to starting a project, I carry out site visits for observation and to analyse and take photographs,libraries and magazines to further my understanding and therefore produce accurate and high quality work.

During the course, our projects were involved the examination of research of the history of the site and today's environment. This has enabled me to identify what the principle planning needs for the social context, experience and vision. The gathering of information about the site, interviews and interior spaces within the environment was a great help to achieve the successful development of the last project. Creating a new design require a connection with the people through visual impact and exterior of the building as well as interior. I can use these transferable research skills and apply them with ease to deliver engaging design solutions.

Having worked on the case studies I am confident in finding new methods, techniques and knowledge, to create a space or work with specific brands for different briefs such as working on film set, residence, commercial or exhibitions.

My strength is being open to ideas and experimenting with different technologies to discover which gives the most successful result. I find that I can incorporate my ideas with model development through editing images within Photoshop and Vectorworks.

I am excellent at working in teams, and this has proven to be one my strengths working to produce final projects, under pressure, within tight deadlines. I always actively listen to other people's ideas and contribute my own as this helps to think creatively and produce innovative ideas and concepts. I believe treating clients with respect and kindness will aid building a good rapport and productive relationships.

My interpersonal skills, including my communication skills, have been developed through working on groups projects and giving presentations

I am passionate when it comes to design, practical during examination of research and thrives to successfully reach targets. My previous retail sales experience shows I am capable of working efficiently unsupervised or in a team and can communicate effectively.
