About me

After graduating with a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Sheffield in 2005, I have recently gained a year of experience in recruitment with the IT industry's leading consultancy, Computer People. After considerable success and gaining a depth of client facing skills, I am relocating to London in July to look for my first opportunity within Media.

I initially confirmed my interest in Media through a placement with the Northern Echo Newspaper where I learnt the basics of newspaper Journalism. I then made the decision to study a traditional English Literature and Language Bachelors, a course that has maximised my ability to use language both creatively and analytically. To gain more niche experience, I selected Media as my elective and studied a number of modules that furthered my awareness of the industry.

Throughout my time at University I have attempted to create a balance between furthering my linguistic knowledge and applying what I have learnt in a practical and relevant context; writing articles and correspondence for the Ski and Snowboarding teams, organising numerous events for the English society and writing for The Steel Press. After finishing University, I took on the responsibility of promoting a new Bar/Club, Sutra. This involved full end-to-end management of a marketing campaign; collecting a brief and creating a proposal, booking and organising the relevant advertising, problem solving, data interrogation and reporting back to the client through to after-sales. Feeling confident in my abilities, I am now looking for my first opportunity to prove myself within a challenging media environment.

I have excellent IT skills and currently use Excel, Powerpoint and bespoke databases on a daily basis, both internally and in client meeting communication. My degree has provided me with an excellent understanding of language. I am naturally methodical with numerical, process driven attitude to employment and enjoy analysis work to give my actions accountability. My current role is highly client facing and I am tenacious in achieving the goals of my clients and the business that I am representing.
