About me
I am writing in regards to any job vacancies or work placements that you may have available for an alumna. As a recent First Class Honours graduate in Journalism and Media BA with a strong desire to work in the television industry, I believe I would be an excellent asset to your team. Media Production is a subject that I have always been interested in, preparing and organising shoots with the desire to produce through the medium of television and film.
- Production and Television Experience
Recently I worked for The 10 Group, a production company in London, working as a runner/logger. While I was there I worked on a MET Police shoot, writing up interviews for editors and the MET Police itself. This experience gave me a small insight in to the world of production and I was able to gain some interviewing techniques and skills that were used in the filming. As a result of my hard work over this period I was asked back for three weeks work experience.
During these three weeks I worked closely with the Production Manager and Production Secretary to arrange shoots and organise camera crews and equipment. I was heavily involved in the preproduction of a Barcelona Shoot for Adidas, from organising flights, hotels, cars, camera crew and equipment to preparing Call Sheets and organising locations, whilst liaising with production companies in Barcelona.
I also had the opportunity to undertake the role of a Runner for another Adidas shoot involving Jessica Ennis. I was also able to work closely with the director, camera and sound operator and gain an invaluable insight in to what goes on during a shoot and the different equipment that is used on set. Being able to watch the camera shoots and different angles used all come together in post-production. I thoroughly enjoyed being involved in preparing the shoot; working on the shoot and seeing the final product come together in edit.
Within my study at University I worked on a television module with a team to produce a 16 minute long music show, which I presented with a co-worker. As well as the presenting side I also interviewed a music band, worked on scripts and helped edit the programme together. As a group we gained a First for what we produced and took from the module some valuable experience. The music show, InTune can be found at */.
From here I was asked to present a short film being produced by students at University, to promote local sport in the Coventry area. The video was one of an array of films in association with the BBC and Coventry City Council.
