About me
Hello.
I am a NYC-based Design Director. I do not currently have a UK work visa, but I can assure you that I am worth sponsoring. For the past 7 years I've built a strong portfolio at Mark Batty Publisher, where I took a niche, small press and helped transform it into an internationally sold (Random House distribution in the US, Thames & Hudson rest of world), multimillion-dollar business making twenty times as many titles. These are books I can honesty say I am proud of—they are recognized for their look as well as their book-as-object feel, and are regularly applauded by major publications and professional associations such as AIGA.
At MBP I'm frequently having to work far outside of my own job description. Recently I've been the spearhead of an epub program, coding and designing fixed-width ebook versions of select titles for sale in Apple's iTunes bookstore. I'm also a published author with five titles under my hat, including one of MBP's best selling books to date: Face Food: The Visual Creativity of Japanese Bento Boxes. Most importantly, I've been responsible for the covers, jackets, interiors and production values of every title at our house, art directing and designing when needed, all while managing staff, photographers, designers, writers, and editors.
I have a select portfolio PDF here: christopherdsalyers.com/CDS_SAMPLES.pdf and content on my website: christopherdsalyers.com.
