About me
To whom it may concern,
I am a creative Web Designer/Developer with over 10 years of professional experience and over 5 years developing themes and plugins for WordPress. For most of my career I've worked within the Arts (visual, performance and film), Architecture and Education industries. I believe in simple, functional and engaging visual communication and I'm passionate about research and learning.
I have extensive experience in UX design, WordPress (PHP, CSS3, HTML5, jQuery), responsive web design for mobile devices, converting Photoshop templates to HTML, wireframing, IT troubleshooting, server monitoring, video for web (production and editing) and Adobe CS. I'm currently undertaking a part-time PhD at Monash University in Collaborative Virtual Environments for performance. My PhD research involves UX processes, which include studying user behaviour, user flow, and prototyping. In 2005, I completed a Masters in Design Studies at Central St Martins University of the Arts, London.
I recently completed a role at Monash University Arts Faculty as their Multimedia Designer for the Online Presence Team. Here I was in charge of front-end design, working within the brand style guide, of all 200+ faculty websites powered by WordPress Multisite. Monash University appointed me to be the client-facing designer/developer, take the lead in converting all 200+ sites to a responsive design and improve UX (reduce drop-offs).
Previously, I worked for award winning London based practice, PCKO Architects, as the Senior Graphic Designer managing production and delivery of all out-going visual assets, print and digital. PCKO is an extremely fast paced environment with tight deadlines to meet clients' and local authorities' needs.
