About me
Dear Hiring Official,
I am writing to you to apply for the position of Junior 3D Visualiser. My name is Chris Taylor, I graduated from De Montfort University in 2014 with a 2:1 BA in Animation. I have a generalist skill set which includes modelling, UV mapping, lighting, and python scripting. Since graduating from university I have broadened my technical and interpersonal skills by working voluntarily on a free mobile game for the Google app store, an internship where I produced two animations, and working part-time for my father at his warehouse distribution business. I strive to improve my skills and believe working as Junior 3D Visualiser would give me a valuable insight into the workflow and professional skills used in industry.
In addition to technical skills, I draw nearly every day, and derive inspiration from architecture, old paintings and drawings, and the world around me. I enjoy visiting and exploring churches and old buildings. I try to look back at my older work to see how I could have done things differently, and although I enjoy drawing and creating digital artworks, I aim not to be attached or precious about my work, but still produce quality content.
At the start of 2015 I completed a paid two month internship at De Montfort University, during this time I produced two animations and discussed progress with my supervisor. I was responsible for development of the script, storyboard, sound editing and animation. I worked to a brief set by my supervisor, and I had meetings with the CEO of the company to discuss the requirements and goals of the animation. During the internship I improved my skills in Cinema4D, storyboarding, and the importance of working to a deadline.
Working at your company I would be able to bring and build upon my current expertise and familiarity with 3D visualisation. I am excited to begin a career in the creative sector, meet new people and gain new skills and experience in the industry.
