Dear Sir/Madam,

Please find enclosed my CV in application for the role of Post Production Editor as advertised on Creative Pool. I believe I am perfectly suited to this role because of the vast experience I possess in Post-Production. I am Apple FCP Pro Certified (Level 1) and have been handing all aspects of Post Production myself for my video production company since its establishment in 2010.

I have experience using Avid Media Composer from studying TV & Film Production at Futureworks School of Media and I regularly use After Effects, DVD Studio Pro and Encore in my post production/delivery workflow. I also however, do all of the filming, lighting and sound recording in the videos that I shoot, and I feel that this helps me as an editor too; knowledge of how cameramen and sound engineers work and think is essential to an efficient post production workflow. Although I do not possess a degree in post production, I feel the experience I have gained is far more valuable - working to client specifications, conceptualisation, working to tight deadlines and interacting with clients, as well as the production skills mentioned. I believe the real-world experience I have gained has been important for my professional development, and my year studying TV and Film Production helped me keep my focus and stick to industry standards.

Working alone has made me extremely capable of independent working and thinking, and I have the ability to simply get on with things and produce results on time, but also the TV & Film Production course I was on developed my team working skills. The course was run like a production company, with industry standard cameras and post-production equipment, and many projects demanded a high level of team work to succeed. Essentially the year I spent there was a year at a production company, overseen by industry professionals teaching us industry workflow.

It was shot as a group project mainly in front of a green screen, and then the post production was entirely my own work; It is a good example of my multi cam editing, chroma keying, VFX composition, grading, titles and rotoscoping skills.

Finally, working for a range of clients from corporate national companies to local schools, I am able to deliver work in a variety of different formats and have an excellent understanding of delivery formats. Each client has a different use for their video, and understanding how to deliver media in a way which suits their individual needs is essential. I have a strong technical understanding of digital media, including DVD and Blu Ray authoring, and web delivery.
