About me
My career started back in 2002 at a printers on a work based training program, this role entailed me designing all the essentials businesses need such as logos, business cards, letterheads and all promotional materials. All projects involved face to face design briefs, design, print and finishing, all to the clients specifications. I passed the course with a distinction.
I was approached by a local website development company after a few years at the printers, and made an offer which I accepted.
I was trained in the whole process of website development, from designing, development, coding, search engine optimisation, email setup and launch. Also some in-house networking and server maintenance, and the workings of servers set for website hosting.
My role expanded from a general website developer, graphic designer to head of advertising and marketing for both head office, national and overseas franchisees as the company was expanding rapidly.
I have also assisted in training junior designers and office management where I was responsible for briefing teams and have confidence in managing multiple projects on a day to day basis.
After around a decade working for this firm an opportunity arose to freelance with the guarantee of regular work, but the opportunity of being my own boss, take my existing clients with me and wealth of experience was too good to pass up.
I've kept up to date with design treads and website developments, I now use WordPress for my website design, something I wish was around when I started, amazing platform. I've got my own servers with domain registrar which allows for no outsourcing of any kind for my web design work.
I also manage a multitude of diverse clients from high profile companies to small independent businesses from e-commerce websites to advertising and marketing materials.
In essence I've covered everything from small general graphic designs i.e. business cards, letterheads all the way to complete company rebranding, advertising and marketing and expansion.
Due to Covid some of my clients have had to shut their businesses and my regular work has been cut. I've seen this as an opportunity to reach out and make new connections and re-build my client base.
