About me
Chris Barron is a Denver-based director and the creative lead behind Mile High Films, an Emmy-winning production company known for high-impact storytelling across commercial, documentary, and branded content. With more than twenty-five years of experience directing for agencies, brands, and broadcasters, Chris brings a cinematic approach to every project—pairing strong visual instincts with a collaborative, people-focused process.
A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Chris began his career in New York before relocating to Colorado, where he built Mile High Films into a trusted production partner for clients throughout the West. His work spans national campaigns, public-sector initiatives, motorsports features, nonprofit storytelling, and corporate brand films. Across all genres, Chris centers authenticity, emotional clarity, and clean, intentional filmmaking.
Chris has directed hundreds of commercial projects for agencies and organizations including Scottsdale Water, Water-Use It Wisely, Visit Mesa, Valley Metro, Bar-S Foods, Deloitte, Colorado CDPHE, and the North Central Region Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. His commercial and PSA work blends strong narrative structure with technical precision, often integrating motion graphics, dynamic camera movement, and carefully crafted performances to elevate the message. His 2024 campaign Our Fire Family earned a Heartland Emmy for its intimate, grounded portrayal of Colorado's fire-service community.
In documentary work, Chris specializes in character-driven narratives that reveal craft, pressure, and human connection. He directed the feature documentary Race/America, following Denver driver Robb Holland through a full season in the GT America racing series. The film combines racing action, behind-the-scenes access, and a portrait of one of the few Black professional drivers in American motorsports. Chris also created the three-episode series Race to the Clouds with Robb Holland for MAVTV and RACER TV, bringing a "Drive to Survive" aesthetic to the storied Pikes Peak Hill Climb. His motorsports filmmaking is defined by energy, immediacy, and a deep understanding of racing culture.
Beyond the camera, Chris is known for his hands-on approach to producing. He guides clients from concept development through delivery, shaping messaging, designing production plans, and ensuring that every detail—from crew selection to location management to post-production workflow—supports the creative vision. His long experience conducting interviews has made him a reliable partner on character-driven campaigns; he has interviewed more than 1,000 people over his career, from CEOs and elected officials to children, first responders, and frontline workers.
Chris is an active part of Colorado's creative community and frequently collaborates with local agencies, chambers, and state organizations. As both a director and business owner, he champions the value of high-quality regional production and works to elevate Colorado's presence in the national filmmaking landscape. Always focused on building long-term client relationships, he positions Mile High Films as a premier production partner—delivering polished, story-driven work with an emphasis on craft and clarity.
Whether creating a national commercial, a nonprofit message, or a cinematic documentary, Chris approaches every project with the same guiding principles: strong storytelling, respect for the subject, and a commitment to visuals that carry emotional weight. His ability to blend technical excellence with a calm, collaborative set environment has made him a go-to director for clients seeking thoughtful, compelling, and memorable content.
