About me
Dear sir/ madam,
I am writing to apply for a full time digital designer and I have enclosed my CV for your consideration. I graduated from the BA Graphic and Media design course at London College of Communication where I specialized in design for Interaction and Moving Image.
My strength is in critical thinking, decision making and practical application of my work. I am interested in all areas of interactive design and graphic design. I am capable of using most applications within the Adobe Master Collection, along with my experience in Max MSP, Arduino, Final Cut Pro and 3D Studio Max. During pervious internships, I proved myself to be adaptable and equally adept at working within a team environment or independently under my own initiative.
By observing current affairs from reading newspapers, online articles and magazines, I bring together information gathered from varied sources to generate and improve ideas. For instance while I was working on a project called Haptics, I went about researching local articles and found out that elderly people benefit significantly through the act of stroking a dog, e.g. increasing the owners' happiness and lifespan; recovering quicker from diseases. I also considered that old people might not have the ability to take care of dogs, in terms of taking it for walks, cleaning up after them and sparing money for pet food. I thus created a furry and lively cushion, which responds to any stroking actions and provides warmth and simulates the breathing motion to the user.
There are a variety of interactive artists whom I admire, such as Daniel Brown and Daniel Rozin. Jason Bruges and his team are designers whom I look up to, in particular as a lot of their work brings interaction and innovative elements into public space and contributes significantly to society. For example, a responsive lighting installation that was installed recently functions to light up an alley, responding to the walking speeds and rhythms of passers-by and reducing the light brightness to save energy when there is a period of inactivity.
I am currently available to work full time, internships or collaborations also welcome. I would like to take this opportunity to explore different media, obtain more team working experience and pushing boundaries. I hope that after viewing my CV and my portfolio, you will be convinced of my potential to perform well on this job opportunity. In addition to my attached portfolio, I exhibited an online showcase of on going projects. My portfolio web site is *.
