About me

I am a recent graduate of the University for the Creative Arts, where I studied Graphic Design: Visual Communication. Whilst studying at UCA for my BA (Hons) I gained valuable skills and knowledge in the field of Graphic Design including editorial, print (digital and traditional), typography, photography, illustration plus many others. I have always enjoyed graphics, as it is such a diverse subject. It doesn't limit you, which I appreciate immensely as I'm not the type of person to be doing just one thing. I like to be able to incorporate all my skills to create projects that use more than one craft.
At University I had the opportunity to create many projects that were varied in subject matter and in the process in which they were developed. Projects that I enjoyed the most were those that involved me being able to use many different mediums to produce the final outcome; computer, print, photography based, anything that made my creativity sore.
I am currently freelancing as an artworker for Asylum Models and Effects, who are based in Earlsfield, London. Here I work a lot with Adobe Creative Suite, mainly Photoshop and Illustrator, creating and editing typography that ultimately ends up on the models and props that are used for television adverts. I have worked on projects for products such as No.7 cosmeticsandmoneysueprmarket.com. This is the second time that I have worked for Asylum, having had experience there two years ago. I am now, however, looking for a permanent position within a creative company.
Previous experience that I have had was working for the Spectator Magazine in Westminster for a month. Here I worked within the art department and helped with two issues of the magazine that were published. I worked alone on the classified section for one issue, which was made in Indesign (as is the whole magazine). These pages were heavily text orientated and here I got to use my knowledge of typography to make the pages look as good as possible. I also got to help out with the front cover of one issue (and one Australian issue) where the artwork had to be edited and the text positioned on the page. Working at the Spectator was great experience. It allowed me to test myself by working in a real working environment where organisation and time keeping skills were a must. I am once again Freelancing at the Spectator where I am currently working on a supplement due for release in November. I am in charge of flowing all the copy, illustrations and images into Indesign and responsible for page layouts, which is a great opportunity for me.

I helped to organise my degree show exhibition at Free Range in Brick Lane this year, which has boosted my organisation (also working to deadlines for University projects has strengthened this) and my people skills. I can work comfortably within a team. I am also happy working alone on projects. I have extensive knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, some knowledge of Rhino 3D modelling software and Final Cut Pro as well as other standard office applications, which I have now been using professionally. I am also comfortable with producing files ready for print, having practiced this at university and also having had professional experience. I am comfortable using MAC as my main platform but can work on PC also.
I wish to be considered for the position of ................. that I came across on the Creativepool Website. I am hard working, always willing and excited to expand my skills and knowledge within the industry. I am looking for an opportunity to get into my chosen profession and feel this job would really suit me as I am really passionate about design.
