About me

Profile

A third year graduating in journalism and broadcasting, with a hunger for a job within media.

My studies have taken place at the University of Salford where I have been educated by such skilful and experienced people as Mike Henfield, David Nolan, Shirley Lewis, Steve Panter and David Haslam.

I have been trained for various fields within journalism. TV (behind and in front of the camera and editing), radio (writing for, presenting and editing) and writing (news, features, reviews, bulletins, scripts and how to lay out a newspaper).

I am most interested in the broadcasting side of TV and radio and have had the excellent opportunity of gaining work experience at two local radio stations (Key 103 and Revolution). Also, sharing a breakfast show with three other people on the university's own station, Shock Fm, has been very helpful and confidence building. Believe it or not I actually enjoy Vox-popping and interviewing people.

My mind is set on becoming a presenter and I will do whatever it takes to get there, no matter how many cups of tea I have to make! Getting a job within media, I have learnt, will not be easy. But it is the path I have chosen and have the determination to achieve my ambition.

Another part of media I have experience in is modelling. I started modelling at a very early age and did the occasional job until I was sixteen. Then it was time to hit the books and focus on what was most important, that of course being my studies, the pathway to my future.

For the, past three years I have been living and studying in Manchester and am now very curious about London life. Originating from Stockholm, Sweden, I believe I do indeed have what it takes to live and work in the busy, hectic but ever so newsworthy and entertaining big city.

My main passion in life, and one of the reasons for me moving to England, is music. Getting a job within music journalism is a dream that I have had my entire life. It may to some people seem like a very easy job however I do not believe anybody could do it. Working within music media one has to be very outgoing, and I must say that I am not the shyest of people! Throughout the years I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the music industries most legendary and influential people, such as: Clint Boon (The Inspiral Carpets), Gary "Mani" Mounfield (The Stone Roses), Billy Lunn (The Subways), Muse, Feeder and The Streets.

This all thanks to the combination of being very sociable, finding the right people to speak to and a hint of luck.

Music is what really excites me, it is in my blood. I eat, drink and sleep music. I guess you could say that music is my fashion; it is what drives and inspires me. I think this may be the reason why I enjoy watching cooking shows like Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay so much, I understand their passion.

Other programmes I enjoy watching are documentaries and I would love to participate in making one in the future. Comedies like The Smoking Room and Peep Show are my ultimate favorites right now.

However these days I have experienced a bit of a love and hate relationship with television. I seem to be focusing on how shows are constructed rather than their content. I enjoy finding faults (whether it is caused by editing, "crossing the line" or the camera man just not keeping the camera steady) and think about how I would have done it differently, how I would not let some mistakes pass me by if I were in charge of broadcasting it.

If you want to get anywhere in this business you have to be determined and tenacious.
