About me

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a recent Interior Design Graduate from De Montfort University, Leicester eager to secure a successful position in the working world. The course was very much driven by spatial design and the architecture of interiors, and has taught me numerous skills that have allowed me to express and develop myself; this is clearly represented in the way I design now. I am open to and enjoy all aspects of interior design and love a constant variety of projects to work on, and therefore find fulfilment in all design sectors.

Having worked in both leisure and retail environments for several years I have a clear understanding of the customers wants and needs, and because of this I am able to interact and negotiate with them comfortably. Being amongst these environments has also allowed me to recognise how customers function within a retail environment, design strengths and weaknesses, what works well and what does not in order to attract customers and represent brand identity. These skills are a vital necessity within the design industry as recognising and meeting the client's needs is what leads a project to success. I am passionate about creating exciting innovative retail environments, ensuring consumers experience the concept of my design. I love working with brands; researching the ins and outs, becoming familiar with their company ethos and producing designs that represent them.

Currently I am putting all of my knowledge and skills to practice as a Designer Assistant at Drayton Manor Theme Park. My role here within the marketing department includes assisting on briefs but also dissecting and working on them independently; from initial concept stage through to the outcome of the final artwork. This has included me producing graphics and signage for around the park, menu boards for food outlets, and involvement in the new extension to Thomas Land and the cafe and kitchens situated within it ready for the opening of the spring season 2015. I am throughly enjoying the work I do for Drayton Manor Theme Park, its an exciting environment to work in with a constant buzzing atmosphere. However, I feel I am ready to move forward and use all experience and knowledge I have to provide effective design solutions.

I am eagerly seeking employment within the design industry and feel as though this position would add great value not only to myself as a graduate in terms of experience, but also myself as a designer; as it can give me a real opportunity to bring the skills and design ideas I have been practicing over the course of three years to fruition. Thank you for taking the time to read my attached CV. I hope the skills that I have presented you with are something that the company is possibly missing and needs. This is the type of company I aim to be working with, and I feel I can fit into the company at ease. I hope this is something you agree with, and as a result I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Charlotte Dawson
