About me

I would love the opportunity to work as a junior project manager for a creative company because I want to combine my creative, design background with my project management course for which I received a distinction. I am self-motivated, aware, conscientious, highly organised and have a proactive mentality. I learnt a lot on my BA Hons: Furniture Design and Craftsmanship Degree at Bucks New University in High Wycombe for which I achieved a 2:1, but as the course progressed I realised that my deeper interest was in project management.

My background in design has encouraged original and innovative thinking. For each project I undertook, a self-initiated brief was put in place. These briefs contained a budget and time deadlines, and outlined all the project objectives. A lot of research and analysis was required before designing started. I was constantly solving both creative and technical problems to ensure all objectives were met to the best potential. My work can be viewed at:*

Since graduating in July I have undertaken a project management course and a months work placement at Fjord in Madrid. The placement has enhanced my skills learnt through my project management course by assisting in managing live projects as well as office and administrative management. I assisted in the everyday running of the office from updating work schedules and documenting expenses, to using my conversational Spanish to order office supplies, recycling collections and organise areas of the office renovation.

During my time at Bucks New University I was elected to be the first fundraiser and treasurer for the Snow Society. This was a challenging but exciting role and required me to establish initial needs for funds and organise a variety of student events to raise these funds. I had to communicate these needs and plans effectively to the rest of the committee and society keeping a high level of moral and teamwork. Building strong and reliable relationships with the accounts office staff and the student union staff was essential to keep their backing and support to help us succeed. By the end of my time at the university, we had become the fastest growing society in the university having recruited the most new members and were invited to become an official sports club at the Universities AU dinner where I received half colours for my work within the society.

At the same time my university course entered the New Designers Exhibition in London in July 2010. I was elected treasurer, fundraiser and co-ordinator taking on the responsibilities of fundraising, invoices, petty cash, press releases, promotion, and communicating with the New Designers team at the Design Business Centre in London. I organised several small fundraisers including raffles and a sponsored beard shave as well as writing to local businesses for sponsorship. With a tough year of university work lingering over us, I had to work hard to keep others motivated in our fundraising efforts.

Balancing 50 hours a week on my university degree, with a part time job, my position as the Treasurer for the Snow Society and my position as New Designers co-ordinator shows I am proactive, highly organised, enthusiastic and able to change work priority and focus quickly. I am adaptable to different work environments and pressures, and am able to work on multiple projects.

I am hardworking, proactive, ambitious and incredibly enthusiastic. I know that I would be a dedicated, focused, hardworking and conscientious employee and would love the opportunity to become a valued member of your team.
