About me

Hello, my name is Ceyda Bölük. I am 25 years old, originally from Turkey, and currently based in
Amsterdam.
Before telling my story, the one thing I can clearly say about myself is that I am a big art enthusiast. I
hold a bachelor's degree in International Relations, but during my studies I realized that design,
drawing, writing, music, and art in general are what I truly want to pursue. This realization led me to
actively explore creative tools—ranging from digital platforms such as Adobe Suite and Procreate to
hands-on practices like painting furniture, screen printing, woodworking, laser cutting, and even
learning how to use a tattoo machine. I am deeply curious and motivated to explore every possible tool
that allows me to design and create.
Along this journey, I completed graphic design internships in Istanbul and worked as a freelancer for
independent artists, creating album covers and event posters. Through these experiences, I became
certain that the creative field is my place. Still, I chose not to drop out of university. I continued my
studies in International Relations because they helped me better understand the world and significantly
broadened my perspective. During this time, I studied politics, history, philosophy, and literature, and I
was constantly reading and writing. This academic background strongly shaped the way I think,
observe, and approach design.
In my final year of university, I was searching for ways to transfer this knowledge into creative
production and to use design as a tool to communicate ideas and create impact. At the same time, my
graphic design internship was going well, and I became involved in another field that deeply influenced
me: dance. Dance quickly became a central part of my life, and I started giving dance classes to adults as
a form of therapy. Movement, rhythm, and body awareness became an essential part of my creative
process and positively affected how I design.
In the last year of my studies, I decided to apply for a design internship abroad. This decision led me to
Studio Roof in Amsterdam, where I have been working for the past ten months. During this time, I have
been involved in every stage of the production process—from product design and sample making to
printing, laser cutting, and close collaboration with both the design and marketing teams. I also took
part in a photoshoot as a model, which gave me insight into visual storytelling from another
perspective.
Throughout these ten months, I have continued my dance journey in Amsterdam, as it keeps me
focused and supports my creative thinking in a very positive way. Looking back, I can now clearly see
that even though my academic background is in International Relations and my interests range across
disciplines such as dance and drawing, all of these experiences have contributed to my design skills and
broadened my vision as a designer.
It has been a formative journey to understand who I am and how I work creatively, and through this
process I have built a clear interdisciplinary perspective. I am confident that I want to continue my path
in the creative field and contribute to teams that value curiosity, experimentation, and strong visual
storytelling.
