About me
I am a multi-disciplined graphic, interior designer and marketing manager with experience in print, digital, apparel design, product & interior architecture. With a strong belief in the exploration of cross-media collaboration.
Over the past few years I have been fortunate to work as a freelance as well as part of a commercial company. Both experiences have encouraged the development of a variety of skills, none more important than flexibility, working as a team and self-motivation. I have found that the most creative and beneficial to the business or client is not to create limitations or barriers, I have always endeavoured to explore cross-collaboration, due to the belief that there is much to be investigated within other forms of media. Developing an open mind to other medias or peoples ideas has resulted in interesting experiments and discoveries, some which have surprised, some which haven't worked and others that were greatly successful. A project is about journey, not just in the time-scale but also for the client, the designer and the end user, I find when you approach a project this way there is a noticeable improvement to the end product.
In 2012 I graduated from the University of Westminster achieving a MA Arch with Distinction in Technical Studies, with a huge emphasis on natural systems and biomimcry. It was the time that I spent in my last year of postgraduate studies that changed my focus and perception within design, the experience of how investigating a simple and almost over looked natural system opened a whole architectural investigation and design strategy. This year of study allowed a more open-minded approach to design and one that I decided to evolve within a commercial office. Working in a commercial office provided a challenging experience, where I was encouraged to accept a large amount of responsibility, demonstrating an ability to learn and develop as a professional at a rapid rate. The benefits gained from working on educational and government-funded projects came from the requirement to consult with the client team or student community, incorporating all their needs and preferences into a design within a tight and non-negotiable budget. A frustrating process at times, however this meant that I was able to demonstrate a diligent approach to my work and the ability to solve challenging situations.
As a designer and marketer I endeavour to show independence and to explore design collaborations in which various techniques appropriate to the design project can be incorporated. I have developed a passion for investigating into new approaches as well as a sense of independence and ingenuity to pursue the boundaries of design through various medias.
