About me
For the last 9 years, I worked as a 2D designer with the exhibitions team at the Royal Museums Greenwich. I worked for all 3 sites, the Royal Observatory, the Queens House + the National maritime Museum. My role was varied, working for many departments, including Marketing, Learning, Development, Curatorial, Exhibitions, Retail etc. I was introduced to Exhibition design at the RMG A very exciting time for me... So for the past 8 years, this has been my main role, working as a 2D designer within the exhibition team. I love the whole exhibition process, working with the project team (project manager, curators, interpretation team, 3D designer etc. What starts as an idea.. Deciding on a narrative + objects that help tell this story, working closely with the 3D designer, to come up with a contemporary exhibition design that leads to through the narrative. My penultimate exhibition, was in the 900 sq meter exhibition space in the Maritime museum.
My biggest challenge so far + as a team, we were delighted with the result... The exhibition was nominated for an award @ the Museum + Heritage awards 2017.
I enjoyed all aspects of design work at the museum, working on posters, education trails, branding for shop products + design for the 'special exhibition' shops. I'm confident with all aspects of 2D design. On my final exhibition at the RMG, (Jutland 1916: WW1's Greatest Sea Battle) I ended up designing the 3D concept also. This was an exciting challenge, a very short deadline + the result was a very successful temporary exhibition.
