About me
I am an extremely organised, people person with a passion for events. From my degree in Event Management, volunteering and roles as an Events Coordinator and Events Assistant I have developed a host of transferable skills that are essential for the workplace. I am able to manage my own time effectively, use my initiative, work well alone and in a team, prioritise my workload and have an eye for detail.
In my first job after university I worked as the sole Events Coordinator for the Association of Professional Financial Advisers (APFA). During my time there I ran the regional seminar programme around the UK, and two Annual Gala Dinners. I gained experience in managing my own time, and as the only event staff member I had a lot of responsibility to ensure tasks were completed on time. I booked venues, speakers, AV, catering and travel, and organised everything prior to the event and then on the day. For larger events such as the Annual Gala Dinner I was responsible for briefing the rest of APFA on their roles and what was expected of them. I am experienced in both the admin and implementation side of events, as I had to do both at APFA.
In my current role as Events Assistant at ACEVO my role involves supporting the Senior Events Executives. I have been in charge of the regional CEO forums, and have assisted in planning and managing larger events such as the Women CEO's Summit, AGM & Parliamentary Reception, Annual Dinner and Conference. I have been managing a number of tasks for different events at the same time, and believe that my organisational skills have helped me to stay on top of the role. I am also responsible for marketing email campaigns for the event team, and dealing with any event enquiries.
All of my job roles have involved offering exceptional customer service to event delegates, association members, other team members and external companies assisting with events such as those in the AV team or at the venue. I always want an event to go well, and really want to make sure people enjoy what has been planned (both staff and guests) so always try to be as helpful when briefing people, talking to them, answering questions etc. I am able to fit well into a team and believe that this is a great skill to have when working in events.
I believe I am always looking for ways to prevent problems from arising at events by putting certain measures in place and being thorough, however I am also good at using my initiative to solve a problem if it arises on the day. I have an eye for detail and am always looking at how things can be improved for the customer/delegate.
I am extremely passionate about working in events, and am looking for the chance to further my career.
