About me
My name is Carolina Chew.
I am an artist with BA honors in 3 Dimensional Design, foundation course in Art and Design, and major A+ GCSE in Art.
Throughout my professional experience I have gained knowledge in working with graphic design, illustration, 3 dimensional art, including set Design, and production of cultural and artistic event, such as Art exhibitions, music festivals, theatre production and artists´ assistant.
I was brought up in Brazil, a country which is world wide known for its cultural mixes (African, native Indians and Europeans) social problems, Folklore, religion and urban art.
A country which enhances lots of energy in music, colours and dance. For me it is like magic, being hidden by criminality, blindness of the people and corruption.
I am heartily and spiritually fascinated by all these means. Living most of my life surrounded by Brazilian Culture makes me want to always be involved in it. I feel as its my duty to lighten up the precious art and not be forgotten by external pressure such as corruption and social problems.
All this cultural information influences a lot in my art, being graphic, illustration or fine art I am always Trying to have the feel, and the strong impression that they caused me.
Apart from this my partner and I have created A project called Old Stuff New Life. It consists on working with a community and collecting materials from their surroundings which have been thrown away. With this material collected they would produce pieces of art, prop making and objects which would be used in the set design for our own event, such as the music festival, dance festival and artistic exhibitions.
Now living in London, I wish to carry on my ideas working Graphic Design. introducing art in the most interesting and creative way,. Always studying other cultures and trying to use this mix media of ideas.
