About me

I was very exciting to come across your post for the full-time design position at Aurora Fashions. Reading about your company and having explored the website I've got a real sense of excitement about the idea of joining you.

My reason for wanting to join your team is due to the sheer diversity of the role and the creative output you want to achieve. I enjoy keeping up to date with changing trends and styles to ensure my work is always cutting edge. I would love to direct my skills as a designer towards my passion for design and fashion and the idea of working on fashion brands within a digital media is definitely where I would like my next journey to begin.

I come from a creative background and have recently moved into a more commercial position. With this experience I feel I have the right skill set to make an impact at Aurora. I want to grow as a designer by learning and being inspired by the people around me. I'm happy and willing to take on responsibility as well as listen and take direction from others.

I graduated from University College Falmouth in 2009 with a 2:1 BA Hons in Illustration. I then spent a year working on a variety of placements, absorbing a number of key skills, before enrolling on the intense graphic design course at Shillington College London. During my time at Shillington I was able to hone my skills in layout and typography and learnt a deep understanding of the Adobe creative suites.

I am currently one of two in-house designers at Brompton Brands. My responsibilities include managing my own workload and relaying verbal briefings into well-designed digital and print solutions. I work in a highly pressurised environment within which I am capable of producing new and exciting visual concepts against tough deadlines. On a day-to-day basis I have to dip in and out of our portfolio of brands, sticking strictly to brand guidelines when necessary. At Brompton brands I have to be adaptable and think on my feet. I have to produce content for both print and digital platform. I am still learning the processes used to convert my designs into a digital platform but I have worked on e-flyers, icon designs and I have designed website based competitions.

I work closely with the other designer as well as collaborating with our web developer. This relationship is pushing my skills set and is enabling me to move from a print designer to a more versatile well-rounded designer. I very much enjoy developing my skills digitally and am keen to up-the-ante to become more proficient.

I very much hope you like my work and I am keen to show you my printed portfolio in person. I look forwarding to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Carly G
