About me

My current role includes the development and implementation of training programmes for Masters and Chief Officers for our fleet of over 200 vessels worldwide. Training is conducted via our in house simulator or on board our fleet and is tailored to include the latest vessel technology and ship handling techniques. I also assist in the selection process for key crew members and scout high performers for promotion or CoC upgrade through on board assessments and vessel audits.

I began my career at sea in 1994 by undertaking a cadetship training programme with Bibby International. I was employed by this company for 5 years on gas tankers and chemical tankers in a worldwide trading pattern. I then moved into the passenger ferry sector and was employed by P&O Ferries on vessels with a 1200 passenger capacity. Subsequently I moved to the oil and gas sector and was employed by various companies on platform supply vessels.
Prior to my current role I held the position of Master in the nuclear towage industry. I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in various types of towage operations using ASD, ATD, Voith and conventional twin screw propulsion systems.

As a workforce Health and Safety Representative, with a keen interest in the implementation of ISM, I have been actively involved in Nuclear Safety Case trials for assets with an individual worth of £1.3Bn.
