About me
Can Aksoy is an architect, photojournalist, digital designer, and visual artist based in Notting Hill, London, UK. He graduated from the Department of Architecture at METU in 2014 and completed a Master of Architecture in Advanced Architectural Design at Oxford Brookes University in 2018. His research explored the shared experiential ground between architecture and cinema through the concept of lived existential space.
He has worked as a project architect and architectural animation designer for leading architectural practices, including EAA - Emre Arolat Architecture and SCRA Architects. He is proficient in using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, InDesign, After Effects, and Premiere Pro), Lumion, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, Grasshopper, AI, and Mandelbulb 3D.
His practice spans photography, 3D rendering, video art, and film. Through experimental filmmaking and digital art, he seeks to capture and visualise the inner worlds and artefactual representations of the mind, eliciting unconscious imagery. He is highly skilled in design research, conceptual 3D design, digital manipulation, animation filmmaking, and film/video editing. He employs alternative media as a research tool to explore personal geographies and dreamscapes.
His work has been featured in prominent publications and art collections, including Artsy (via MAGGIO Art Consultancy in London), OSA Magazine, Dark Yellow Dot, Interalia Magazine, Adobe, Getty Images, and Vogue Magazine x PhotoVogue. His avant-garde short film "Silencio" was nominated for Best Experimental Film at the Oxford International Short Film Festival in 2019. His artwork has been exhibited in the Nightfall group exhibition at Barn Gallery in Oxford and OverDrawn, a group exhibition curated by the London Drawing Group and Dark Yellow Dot in London.
In 2019, Can Aksoy founded his media studio, SCA, to explore innovative relationships between architecture, visual media arts, and digital media.
