Over the course of his career, Brian Posen has made numerous contributions to the Chicago theater scene. He is the founding director of The Cupid Players, a musical sketch comedy company, and directed the company's open-run show Cupid Has a Heart On. Brian Posen also founded and has executive produced the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, which presents 188 shows to 10,000 patrons over eight days every January.
An accomplished teacher, Mr. Posen has worked with students of all ages and at all levels. He taught for many years at Columbia College Chicago, where he received his bachelor's degree in acting. He went on to receive a master of fine arts (MFA) in acting from the University of Illinois, where he received the Charles Luckman Award for his work as an educator. He has also taught at theaters across the United States, including the Steppenwolf Theater and the Actors Theater of Louisville.
Mr. Posen has been an instructor at Chicago's Second City theater for 25 years, during which time he has taught numerous courses and coached ensembles for weekly Thursday night performances. He was also appointed to the position of program head, a role in which he developed and introduced curriculum for all classes within the theater's educational division. Winner of a number of awards including the "After Dark" and "Jeff" honors, he has also received mention as one of New City's "30 Players Who Really Perform in Chicago."
