About me
- Brett has worked in creative positions since 1994, cutting his teeth as a DTP operator in his first role in Durban, South Africa. He steadily progressed to become a graphic designer, educator, and entrepreneur, starting his first business in 2003. He worked in London, UK, for twelve years, where he led a design agency and a record label, and founded and ran The London Festival of Photography for two years.
- Career highlights include a presentation in 2010 to the United Nations in NYC of a youth project he founded, including an exhibition for two years in the UN Secretariat foyer in NYC, designing a poster for one of AC/DC's shows in London, exhibiting work in Barcelona, Milan and Berlin and, Executive Creative Director roles at the World Bank and Mail & Guardian.
- Other highlights include running projects across four continents and collaborating with institutions such as Tate Modern, Tate Liverpool, the Museum of London, the National Portrait Gallery, the British Museum, the British Library, Visit London, the British Council, and The Guardian. Projects Brett has run have been featured in The Independent, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Observer, The Evening Standard, The Financial Times, The Telegraph, TIME Magazine, The BBC, Al Jazeera and more...
- Brett has worked for brands and clients including Harley-Davidson, Vauxhall, HP, Knorr, Eurostar, Virgin, The British Heart Foundation and more...
- Brett moved back to Cape Town, South Africa, in 2012 and founded The Ethical Agency in 2017.
- Brett leads The Ethical Agency as creative director and CEO, supporting clients that care about people and planet. He leads a team of 30 staff members, including 7 graphic designers, and helps guide a consistent, considered design aesthetic to achieve effective outcomes for their clients.
- Additionally, Brett works as a senior designer and creative director for The World Bank on a contract basis.
- In a past life, Brett was a published photographer and songwriter, as well as a musician. Brett is a proud husband and dad to two dogs, a cat and a daughter.
