Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to apply for the position of Copywriter. I have a wealth of writing experience I can bring to the role, and from what I know of Octopus Group, your company looks like a welcoming, promising environment in which to develop my talents further. Although I do not come from a technological background, I am competent and comfortable using a wide range of technology. I am also a fast learner and can easily pick up any skills or processes I have not yet had chance to discover.

I am extremely versatile in my use of the English language, both in spoken communication and in writing via a number of different media. Through administration work and through my role as a tour guide with English Heritage, I know how to adapt my tone to best suit the audience in question. I take pleasure in clarity of communication and in manipulating language to produce effective, entertaining pieces of writing. Having spent a total of five years at university, I am highly capable of creating both long and short texts on a given topic and have had extensive experience of writing concisely to fit within required word limits. I also write for pleasure and have created many short stories as well as analytical/reflective pieces; these gave me the opportunity to practice writing in different styles and gain new insights into tone and content. I am fluent in Swedish, can fluently understand Danish, Norwegian and French, and am currently learning Russian.

I am a highly organised, reliable individual and thrive in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are paramount. I know how to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise effectively. This is perhaps best illustrated by my university life: whilst studying for both my Undergraduate and Master's degrees, I chose to take an additional module alongside an already heavy workload. At Cambridge, I also chose to study Russian on an extra-curricular basis and to volunteer at Cambridge Language Centre, helping foreign students improve their spoken English. At UCL, my efforts led to my being awarded the Faculty Medal, achieving the highest marks and demonstrating the most dedication of any student in the faculty. I completed deadlines sometimes weeks ahead of time, but I also found time to pursue a range of personal interests and lead a full and active social life.

I bring huge enthusiasm and commitment to any task that I undertake. I pride myself on producing the highest quality work possible with an extremely positive attitude and I set high standards in all my undertakings. I enjoy team work but am equally content to meet targets as an individual. I am punctual, reliable and have not had a day's sickness absence since 2008. I hope that my cheerful, calm and efficient persona encourages others around me to adopt a more positive outlook and strive to achieve.
