BENK + BO is a project brought on by the love of hosting and community shared by friends Antony Burger and Mariell Lind Hansen. The name meaning ‘workbench’ and ‘a place to live’ in Norwegian is a nod to Mariell’s native country, while the bakery is rooted in Antony's family history with his granddad's bakery in Wales.
A multifunctional space housed in a three-story brutalist building in Spitalfields with aesthetics that lean very much to Scandinavian design.
You will find an in-house bakery, lunchtime hang out and cafe, yoga studio, shared workspaces and members areas, meeting room, piano practice room and facilities for events and shoots.
Taking into mind the evolving notion of work, many creatives taking on multiple or fluid careers, occasional residencies will be offered, collaborative efforts encouraged and the Benk + Bo project evolving organically. Select artists will be invited to exhibit throughout the year.
Though the first half year of Benk + Bo the family is growing steadily and a solid team of inspiring people have already made their mark on the business as it evolves and slowly grows into something that is shaped by collaboration, gut feelings, hard work, good vibes and meaningful conversations.
