About me

To Whom It May Concern

Since completing my degree in Bristol, I have worked at an in-house Design Agency and a Publishing Company working in a plethora of different mediums.

Design Office is a Mac orientated design agency specialising in a multitude of mixed media, ranging from large format to vehicle livery, Social Network and branding - including the extensive re-branding of Addscan/Scanlands of Crewe & Nantwich. As well as the in house design team, Design Office also incorporated an in house print team using a variety of print methods such as a four colour printing press. This required a strong understanding of the printing process, for a coherent productive environment within the company. The company had a rapid turnaround time of print material requiring precise time management skills from all members of staff as well as strong communication skills. There was an extremely high standard that had to consistently be maintained in design and print including brand coherence of colour in printed materials to maintain a consistent brand identity.

I currently work for Staffs Media, an independent publishing company of 5 publications, ranging from lifestyle to education ,business and travel. My main focus is of the Business Magazine, while also working heavily on other titles such as Achieve and Stay In Staffs including all aesthetics of the publication such as design layout and adverts.

I have been working with the medium of publishing for a year now, after a few months I was put in charge of advertising for all titles as well as developing ideas to pull the Business magazine into 2013. The original format was uninspiring, dull and unattractive, that had not been changed from the first publication around 6 years ago. There were a number of points I had to take into consideration to achieve my brief - the target market, distribution area, size and shape of the magazine and the stock as well as font consideration. I have also incorporated the medium of social network into the magazine by encouraging readers to get involved via our twitter page @midsbusiness which now has hundreds of followers. The new re invented Midlands in Business publication will be released in January 2013.

I was also creating brand identities for business designing posters, booklets and large format displays for such companies as the NHS and the Donna Louise Trust.

Even though I am a very competent designer in many different mediums of design, my cup is still only half full! I need creative experienced people around me to keep building and expanding on my current knowledge and abilities.

My personality is one that is suited perfectly to working with others, within a team, my peers and the general public.

I have a good understanding of different cultures as I have travelled to Japan, Europe and India. On my journey I have seen some of the most beautiful and amazing sights, architecture and design that I am likely to see in my lifetime.

I am career motivated and ambitious and passionate about all aspects of design. I am keen to develop my skills and undertake new exciting challenges and I am sure if given the chance could be an invaluable member of your company.

I look forward to your reply in anticipation.

Yours faithfully

Ben Stanley
