I wish to apply for the role of Junior UX Designer. I have read your advertisement with great interest as I believe that my expertise and qualifications match your requirements for this role. I would welcome the chance to apply my skills and knowledge I have gained during University, as well as my work experience, and I feel my abilities would prove to be an asset for your company. In 2015 I graduated from Loughborough University with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Industrial Design and Technology. Using the knowledge I gained from my time at university I have been able to excel in my early career at a professional design agency.
I have worked in a digital marketing agency for 6 months now where the focus is on delivering visually stunning, creative ideas combined with industry best practice in order to give brands the opportunity to grow in competitive markets. I have had the chance to work alongside some of the biggest companies in the world including Coca-Cola, working with them to produce a range of high quality graphics, as well as designing and improving systems they currently use to analyse sales figures and keep on track of assets. Some of my responsibilities include:
- Being provided with a brief that requires creative problem solving to meet the needs and wants of the client
- Provide a range of concepts and ideas to the client based on the specification
- Planning time effectively to meet deadlines
- Produce high quality visual solutions and presentations
- Using Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) to produce logos, website/app designs and other graphic designs, from artwork to advertisements
- Working independently or as part of a team as per the requirements of the project
- Working with blue-chip companies including Coca-Cola, Hilton and Merlin
- Critiquing peers during group sessions to develop their work
I am also comfortable with Mac OSX and have an in-depth knowledge of the programs within Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I feel the next step of my career is to move to user-based design as I feel it fits my skill set better with a mixture of knowledge I have gained from the design agency, as well as the user-centered, process design I learnt during my time at university. I understand that UX design isn't just about the final outcome, but the steps that were taken in order to get to the final outcome, which may involve various user testing techniques. Strong communication and listening skills are also vital for a designer, and I feel I excel in both written and verbal communication. Not only am I reliable and hardworking, but also incredibly determined to succeed.
