About me

Dear Sir/Madam,

I wish to apply for the role of ‪Junior Designer‬ offered by Union Jackson, currently being advertised on the Creativepool website.

Please find enclosed my CV for your consideration. I regard this as a fantastic opportunity to develop myself further on my career path, and feel I have a wide range of administrative skills, creative knowledge and technical expertise to successfully fulfil the job role and exceed the print and digital requirements.

Having worked at a wide range of companies in the Book Publishing, Acrylic Manufacturing and High Street Printing sectors, providing a mixture of full time and freelance creative artwork support since November 2009, it has enabled me to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of vital software, print production methods and implemented brand and styles, used within the various different industries. This has aided my progress, working in diverse environments at various different companies using my creative flair, initiative and excellent attention to detail, on a regular basis. I have gained experience designing and retouching the design/layout of different trade fiction/non-fiction and illustrated non-fiction book titles in hardback, paperback and PLC formats, acrylic based POS and FSDU vinyl decals to promotional publications, stationary, websites, email adverts and banners amongst many others.

Applying the same ethos on each brief, using careful time management, self motivation and discipline, I would organize and multi-task with the workload, dealing with the different design layout files during the whole production process and their respective print specifications, to make sure they were in an appropriate format to be sent for print. It has been important to forge and build relationships by demonstrating excellent communication and robust interpersonal skills, enabling a large degree of trust between my colleagues and myself, insuring excellent customer service. This allowed flexible time for liaising with my colleagues for their creative and editorial input, checking for consistency and corrections, to prevent any potential artwork and editorial complications. This meant the projects would operate within their budgets, were finalized and met the deadlines.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you. I am available to start as soon as possible and my salary requirements are £25,000 to £30,000 but I am open to negotiation.

Yours sincerely

Benjamin James Durston
