Becci's work

As a soon to be graduate of Southampton Univeristy with a 2:1 degree in English Literature, I have undertaken several work experiences at media companies. Including XL records, Create Soho, NME, Q magazine and Kerrang! Radio. These placements have enabled me to develop not only specific media industry experience, but also a valuable and transferable skill set in this fast-paced sector. For example during my time at NME I worked within the live reviews section, where deadlines were very kept to tight time constraints. Here I contributed to articles by sub-editing, managing background research, participated in group meetings and suggesting blog topics for free lance writers. Utilising excellent communication skills, I developed and maintained successful working relationships with both internal and external staff. Whilst studying at university I have also been able to balance my time between my degree and my part time job as brand and marketing manager at my local music venue. A part of a small core team of 4 other managers who over see the business - I was promoted swiftly after only 1 month of working there as a barmaid. Having seen a niche for more social media promotion and better advertising, I was quickly given the job. Since then I am now in charge of a team of 64 people - all of which actively promote the venue in and around Southampton, Winchester and The Isle of Wight. Looking to secure a position in a media organisation, where I can bring immediate and strategic value and develop my current skill set further.
