BARKER was established in 2003. At that time, the ad industry had become siloed due to holding companies verticalizing agencies based on service categories, leaving the unheeded “idea” stuck in whatever box it was created in. The democratization of the “idea” is what drove our founder, John Barker, to leave the Big-Agency-World and start his own. From day one, BARKER was a fully-integrated agency focused on solving real business problems with bold innovation, insightful strategy and results-driven creative. However, the concept of being a fully integrated agency goes much deeper than a list of services – it’s reflected in the types of people we hire and how our teams are structured. We look for people who are experts in a specific area, but have a strong aptitude in other disciplines; i.e. an Art Director with a passion for Strategy, or a Digital Project Manager with a background in UX Design. We’re about hiring cross-functional people, which leads to highly effective teams.
