About me

My interest in design work started in school, where I was sat and cpmpleted design challenges, using a variety of materials and tools to complete final designs. I successfully completed Design Technology at GCSE, A.S Level and A Level, which was supported by Art in at the same levels developing my visualisation and drawing skills. These aided me in my placement for the BA (hons) Product Design course at Salford University, where I achieved a 2.1 hons degree. This course has enabled me to develop my skills, through design, drawing, model making, communication, computer aided design, presentations (formal and informal), competition work and working on client based design briefs. These areas have enabled me to produce work at a 'professional company standard.'

I have also worked on a part time basis during holiday periods. These have required me to work within a team and also as a team leader, working directly with the public in a large Department Store, in which I was involved in sales, product placement, customer service and display and as part of the management team.

As part of my university course I was involved in placements at Clowes, a packaging design and production company in which I was involved in designing packaging for a number of firms. One of my designs was selected and produced commercially for a Sheffield Cutlery Firm. I have also worked in Pendleton College, teaching and supporting AS and A Level students with their final design models and folio's. I was encouraged to share my expertise of historical context and the work of current designers. This involved me working with individuals and groups, working on drawing skills, model production, health and safety using the equipment and machinery and looking towards a future in design industry through university placement.

Currently I am working with an established cutlery firm called Richardson's in Sheffield. I am working with their design team for my final year design project. This is involving me with data collection, concept designing, development and model making resulting in a presentation to the design team and management of the company.
