About me
Below is a brief summary of my working career so far, which I hope is of some assistance.
After obtaining a Fine Arts diploma at the Johannesburg School of Art, Ballet & Music, I began my career in a small design studio, moving to a large newspaper group (S.A.A.N.) and then an exhibitions & publishing company until I had gained enough experience to join an advertising agency as a Junior Artist, learning the basic advertising skills including scamps, layouts, type mark-ups, print reproduction, stills photography and television, eventually becoming Senior Art Director/Group Head.
I returned to the UK nine years ago, and was employed as the Creative/Graphics Designer of a high-quality specialist custom graphics publication. Having worked on the creative side of advertising, publishing, promotions and exhibitions, I have an in-depth and realistic understanding of timings and deadlines as well as the printing process and procedures and, always strive for the best of possible outcomes.
I am currently employed as Design and Production Manager of an established and well respected publishing company. Being a 'hands on' person doing artwork, page layout, finished art and graphics etc, I have been involved in both the creation and execution of the production process, giving me a unique insight into timings and requirements, as well as ensuring all the relevant departments are closely consulted in order to meet there specific requirements. Artwork too, has to be created and trafficked for a wide and varied range of projects including POS and trade shows, without disrupting the ongoing and regular work flow.
