About me
Pakistani culture and heritage heavily influences the majority of my creative work. There is always something new for me to learn about myself through researching my family history or even general information about cultural rituals and expectations in Pakistan.
My aim was to create prints and strong silhouettes that tell a story. Ways in which I have done this is; using photographs from my childhood of me and my family, also drawing from photographs of places I went to that have a significant link to my culture and beliefs. I have then combined this and used silhouettes for garments that link into traditional Pakistani menswear to create a fusion of East meets West.
Creating prints that portray this has been exciting and challenging, I have used a lot of digital printing but also tried to undertake as many different processes as I can, I have used foil, flock, Devore, discharge, pigment discharge and knit. The combination of these techniques with soft fabrics and layered looks has resulted in a collection that has a very strong link to Pakistan.
